In keeping with his generous nature, Bob Persons is hosting a fundraiser for Four Valleys Community School (FVCS). The Double Musky will be the venue for the “Toast to Four Valleys!” on Oct. 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $45 per person, and you will be treated to drinks and a buffet of the famous Musky appetizers. Carol Sanner has donated scrumptious coffee as well. Gratuities are included in the ticket price. As Cleary Donovan, FVCS Board Member states, “you could call this fundraiser a ‘non-event’: no speeches, no raffles, no auction, not even dinner; just good fun.” Tickets are available in the FVCS office, located at the Girdwood School, or from any FVCS Board member. Space is limited. FVCS thanks you for your donations. Please be sure to thank Bob and the Musky staff for their unending support of Four Valleys Community School.
This fundraiser will kick off our 27th year of providing recreational, educational, and cultural activities for the Four Valleys Area. We have a great staff and veteran board members, coupled with some new and returning faces this year who continue to keep FVCS, Inc. going strong. Their efforts are instrumental and they will be introduced in a later issue.
Mark Tuesday, Sep. 25 on your calendar for Fall/Winter Registration, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Girdwood School Gym. Look for the program guide that describes all of the class offerings coming in mid-September to your post office box and/or the FVCS office, located just inside the entrance to the Girdwood School. For a number of reasons that we think will help us operate more smoothly, we will have two longer sessions this year, Fall/Winter and Winter/Spring, rather than the usual three: Fall, Winter, and Spring. The Fall/Winter session will run from Oct. 1 to Jan. 18. Please call us now at 742-5317 or email julie@fourvalleys.org if you have a special skill or talent to lend and can teach a class. We can’t do it without you. We need soccer coaches! (In other words, we need parents of soccer players who will help supervise the kids during practice and games). We need folks who will share their particular knowledge and/or experiences with community members.
September is the month to squeak out a few more summer type adventures, while we ready for the coming seasons. FVCS can look back with pride at a great summer, filled with the laughter of the children at Summer Playground, 100 soccer players running on the Arlberg field, discoveries of tidal wonders and land based creatures at Science Camp, and the beautiful creations produced by young artists at Girdwood Fine Arts Camp. Thank you for your support; we look forward to another great year.
