Seniors receive deed to 2 acres of land

Kenai Peninsula Borough Land Management Officer Marcus Mueller presented Cooper Landing Senior Citizens Corp. Inc President Marjorie VanKooten with the deed to about two acres of land, part of the Snug Harbor Road senior campus, during the August 12 CLSCCI general meeting. This is the parcel on which Ravens View, a six-unit housing project, is currently under construction. The official Ravens View groundbreaking ceremony took place after the business meeting.
Alaska legislators, Senator Gary Stevens and his wife Rita and Representative Paul Seaton with his wife Tina joined seniors, construction workers, and others for lunch in the newly named Helen Gwin Commons and for the day’s events.
Julaine Fleetwood’s proposed logo design incorporating the mountains, river, and a palm-up hand holding everything together won the design contest.
Shirley Wilmoth was appointed to the CLSCCI Board of Directors joining President VanKooten, Vice President Ed Holsten, Secretary Joyce Koppert, Treasurer Alma Fowler, and James Berry, Scott Davis, Janet B. Weber, and Anna Wheeler. Two members are needed for the Endowment Board to join Bill Fort, Jack Britton, and Jacque Greenman.
