The following incidents were reported to Detachment E of the Alaska State Troopers.
Assault: On July 31 at approximately 5:28 p.m. Troopers responded to Hope for a 911 hang-up. An AST investigation revealed Lukyan M. Mraz, age 23 of Hope had assaulted his 21 year of age girlfriend at their residence. The female denied medical treatment. Mraz was arrested for Assault IV (DV) and transported to the Anchorage
Jail where he was held on $300.00 cash bail.
DUI/Assault: On July 29 around 7:40 p.m. Troopers responded to a domestic dispute between a male and female, in a moving vehicle, located near mile 82 of the Seward Highway. Following an investigation David Alan Rogers, age 45 of Anchorage, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (DUI), Violating a Protective Order, and Assault IV on his girlfriend. Further investigation revealed Rogers had an outstanding arrest warrant for Assault IV with no bail. Rogers was transported to and remanded into custody at the Anchorage Jail and held on the No Bail warrant and an additional $5000.00 cash bail.
Vehicle Collission: On July 30 at approximately 6:00 p.m., a Trooper responded to a two vehicle collision near mile 58.5 Seward Hwy. Investigation revealed Timothy W. Smith, age 46 of Anchorage was driving a 1995 Dodge Dakota pickup northbound on the Seward Hwy when his vehicle rear ended a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Lori M. Gann, age 34 of Texas. Gann was stopped, turning left off of the highway when her vehicle was struck. All occupants reported wearing their seat belts. Gann received a neck injury and was transported to Soldotna Central Medical Center for treatment. Smith and his passenger were not injured. Total damages to the F-150 were estimated at $10,000.00 while the Dakota was totaled. Smith received citations for No Proof of Insurance and Driver to Exercise Due Care to Avoid a Collision.
DUI: On July 30 at 4 a.m. Troopers arrested Jason N. Harrell, 33, of Anchorage for Driving Under the Influence. Harrell was operating a 2000 model SUV type vehicle. Troopers received two REDDI (Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately) reports on Harrell’s vehicle that were several hours apart. Troopers found the vehicle and made the traffic stop within the Traffic Safety Corridor on the Seward Highway. Following an investigation, Harrell was arrested for DUI. His vehicle was impounded and he was remanded to the Anchorage Jail, Bail was set at $1,000.00
Failure to Exercise Due Care to Avoid a Collision: On Aug. 3 at approximately 1:30 p.m. Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision near mile 104 of the Seward Highway. Investigation determined that a 2003 Ford pickup, driven by Robert H. Mcnair, age 74 of Athens Texas was stopped on Indian Road waiting to turn left onto the Seward Highway when he was side swiped by a 2006 Dodge pickup, driven by Arwa M Abulhasan, age 27 of Anchorage that was turning left onto Indian Road. All parties involved reported wearing their seat belts and having no injuries. Abulhasan was cited for Failure to Exercise Due Care to Avoid a Collision. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at approximately $6,000.00.
Fishing Over Daily Limit: On Aug. 3, Michael Farley, 45, of Girdwood, was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers Girdwood Post, for going over his daily bag limit on non-pelagic rock fish. Bail is set at $150.00 at Anchorage District Court.
DUI/Failure to Submit to Breath Test: On Aug. 4 at approximately 10:28 p.m. Troopers responded to mile 113 of the Seward Highway for the report of a REDDI vehicle. Investigation revealed Rae Lynn Martinez, age 43 of Chugiak was driving a 2000 Ford Windstar van while under the influence of alcohol. Martinez was arrested for DUI and transported to Girdwood Post where she Refused to Submit to a Chemical Test. Martinez was also issued a citation for Refusal to Submit to a Preliminary Breath Test while in a safety zone. Martinez was transported to Anchorage Jail and held on $1500.00 bail.
DUI: On Aug. 5 at 4:35 p.m. a Trooper contacted Cheri Elisabeth Hill, age 45 of Anchorage, after she was found passed out in the front seat of her 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse, straddling the fog line, near mile 94 Seward Highway near Girdwood. Investigation revealed Hill was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Hill was arrested for DUI and transported to Anchorage Jail where she was held on $750.00 bail. Hills vehicle was impounded.
Over Daily Bag Limit on Rock Fish: On Aug. 6, Chris Troseth, 48, of Anchorage, was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Girdwood Post, for going over his daily bag limit on non-pelagic rock fish. Bail was set at $130.00 Anchorage District Court.
Operating With a Suspended License: On Aug. 6 around 12:30 p.m. Troopers contacted a white Chevrolet Tahoe stopped along side the Seward Highway near mile 87. The vehicle had been earlier reported driving erratically. An Investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle, Michelle L. Drummond, age 26, of Anchorage, and was operating with a suspended driver’s license. Hill was arrested for DWLS and transported to Anchorage Jail where she was held on $500.00 bail. Drummond’s vehicle was impounded.
Driving With a Revoked License: On Aug. 10 at approximately 2:10 p.m. Troopers contacted Benjamin Brown, age 43 of Anchorage, during a traffic stop for speeding near mile 111 of the Seward Hwy. which is within the Traffic Safety Corridor. Following an AST investigation, Brown was summons to appear in court on the charge of Driving With a Revoked Drivers License and cited for speeding. Brown was released at the scene. A licensed driver was contacted to take control of the vehicle.
Assault: On Aug. 11 at 6:15 p.m. Troopers responded to an apartment located on Olympic Loop in Girdwood for the report of an out of control man wielding a butcher knife and cutting up furniture while the caller was locked in a bedroom. Investigation revealed Shaun Richard Williams, age 39 of Girdwood was arrested for Assault III (3 counts), Criminal Mischief IV, and Interfering with a report of Domestic Violence. The 35 year of age Girdwood female subject and two small children were not injured. Damages to the apartment furniture were estimated at approximately $200.00. Williams was transported to Anchorage Jail where he was remanded on $2500.00 bail plus CATP.
