The Alaska State Troopers reported the following incidents. Any charges reported are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Warrant Arrest/Driving with a Revoked License
COOPER LANDING—On June 16 at 1:18 a.m., a Trooper stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at mile 37.5 of the Seward Highway. The driver Joseph Gonzales, 29, of Anchorage was subsequently arrested for an outstanding $1,000 Anchorage Police Department arrest warrant, original charge malicious destruction of property. Gonzales was also driving with a revoked license after court records revealed his driver’s license is currently in revokes status. Gonzales will appear in the Seward Court at a later date for the above charge.
Commercial Fishing in Closed Water
WHITTIER—On June 17, Steven Copeland, 61, of Satellite Beach, FL was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, for commercial fishing in closed waters. Copeland was cited after his drift gillnet and boat went over the line in the Eshamy District fishery. Arraignment is set for Cordova District Court on July 29.

WHITTIER—On June 17, Craig Nelson, 40, of Westport WA was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for commercial fishing in closed waters. Copeland was cited after his drift gillnet and boat went over the line in the Eshamy District fishery. Arraignment is set for Cordova District Court on July 29.
Illegal Commercial Fishing Activity/Anchored Gear
PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND-ESTHER PASSAGE—On June 20, at 4:10 p.m., Iosif Reutov, 35, of Oregon was issued a citation for operating his drift gillnet outside of its basic design. Reutov was operating a drift gillnet that was fixed to the beach on one end, in Esther Passage. Arraignment scheduled in the Cordova Court on July 29.
Minor Consuming Alcohol 2nd Offense
COOPER LANDING—On June 23, at 8:00 a.m., a Trooper responded to a report of an intoxicated female walking along that road at mile 53 of the Sterling Highway. The Trooper contacted 20 year old Vanessa Kost of Anchorage. Kost was subsequently charged with a minor consuming alcohol and will appear in the Seward Court at a later date.
Motor Vehicle Collision-Damage Only
COOPER LANDING—On June 22, a Trooper responded to a report of a Motor Vehicle Collision that occurred at 47.5 mile of the Sterling Highway. An investigation revealed 20 year old Patrick Arrico of Road Island was operating a 1985 Chevy Blazer, and was stopped on the Sterling Highway attempting to make a left hand turn onto Bean Creek Road, when he was rear-ended by a 1989 privately owned school bus, driven by James Whitesell, 35, of Anchorage. All were reportedly wearing their seatbelts and declined medical attention. Whitesell was issued a citation for Failure to Exercise Due Care to Avoid a Collision.
Motor Vehicle Collision/Leaving the Scene of an Accident/DUI
MOOSE PASS—On June 20, at approximately 9 p.m., Troopers responded to mile 31.5 of the Seward Highway for the report of a single vehicle crash. Witnesses on scene reported the driver had left the scene of the crash and he was being chased by witnesses. Troopers contacted the driver approximately .5 miles from the crash scene and identified the driver as Thomas Server, age 26 of Pennsylvania. Server was uncooperative, intoxicated, and placed under arrest. Server complained of injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by medics to Seward Providence Medical Center for treatment. After Server was treated at Seward Providence Medical Center, he was remanded to the Seward City Jail on charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident and DUI. Bail was set at $1,000.
Assault
GIRDWOOD—On June 21, at around 3:50 p.m., a 29 year-old Girdwood woman came to the Girdwood Post of the Alaska State Troopers asking for medical help and reporting an assault. An investigation revealed Corey Michael McCullough, age 31 of Girdwood had assaulted the female. He was later arrested for Assault IV DV and transported to the Anchorage jail held without bail.
DUI, Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test
GIRDWOOD—On June 22, at approximately 12:35 a.m., a Trooper stopped a 2006 Ford Taurus near mile 105 Seward Highway after it had been called in as a REDDI vehicle. An investigation revealed the driver, Jorene Karen Joe, age 30 of Anchorage, was driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance. Joe was arrested for DUI and transported to Girdwood Post where she refused to provide a sample of her breath for chemical testing. Joe was then transported to the Anchorage Jail and held on $2,000 bail.
Motor Vehicle Collision
MOOSE PASS—On June 24, at 12:38 p.m. Troopers responded to report of a vehicle that had gone off the road and was stuck on the railroad tracks near the Trail River Bridge. An investigation showed that Joanne Martin, 74 of Soldotna, was traveling north bound on the Seward Highway when she fell asleep. Martin drove off the road and her vehicle came to rest on the train tracks. Martin’s vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene. Martin reported wearing her seat belt and was not injured. Martin was given a citation for negligent driving.
DUI, Felony Probation Violation
GIRDWOOD—On June 26, at approximately 10 p.m., a Trooper responded to the report of a disturbance at the Silvertip Bar and Grill in Girdwood. Following an investigation Shaun R. Williams, age 41 of Girdwood, was arrested for DUI. He was remanded to the Anchorage Jail with a bail of $ 250. Anchorage Adult Probations remanded Williams to the Anchorage Jail without bail for a probation violation due to him consuming alcohol to excess which was in violation of his probation in a previous felony conviction.
No Valid Operator’s License
COOPER LANDING—On June 27, at 8:15 p.m., Troopers stopped a motorcycle near mile 40 of the Sterling Highway for speeding. The driver was identified as Adam Dene, 26 of Anchorage. During the stop it was found that Dene did not have a valid motorcycle license. Dene was given a citation to appear in court for No Valid Operator’s License and a citation for speeding then released.
