Lindquist Family presents artwork at Ranting Raven
On Friday, July 3, Ruby, Sadie, and Neil Lindquist of Moose Pass will be presenting their “block print” artwork at the Ranting Raven in Seward. I was blessed to have custom made prints designed just for me while in Hawaii, and trust me–this is not a show that you want to miss! Also of Moose Pass, Iva and Hana Cooney will be presenting their “Gyotaku” artwork. Gyotaku is a traditional form of Japanese fish printing. Iva and Hana recently had their artwork on display at the Moose Pass Summer Solstice Festival. All artwork will be on display and for sale for the entire month of July. Ranting Raven is located at 228 4th Ave Seward, AK 99664 and can be reached at (907) 224-2228 for additional information.

“White Mountain Climbers” is a program focused on the abilities and qualities of mountain goats and Dall sheep that help them survive and thrive in their extreme habitat.
“Amazing Birds” is just that…birds have so many individual characteristics that set them apart from any other kind of animals.

Moose Pass Summer Solstice a big success
This year’s Moose Pass Summer Solstice was a big success, thanks to all of the hard-working volunteers throughout the two day festival. The live music started Saturday afternoon with Moose Pass’s own Nellie Bash kicking off the festivities. Although Moose Passer’s Janelle Allen (Nellie), Dave Schafer, Tom Lindquist, and Jan Odhner had only practiced together a handful of times, they sounded fantastic! As usual, by Sunday morning the famous beer mugs and pint glasses were sold out. By the end of Sunday, the bake sale table was barren of goodies. Proceeds from all of the sales, including the live auction on Sunday afternoon will go to the Sportsman’s Club to be used for the Moose Pass Fire Department and other activities throughout the community for the duration of the year.
The 2nd Annual Moose Pass Summer Solstice Kayak Race was also a great success. Viewers cheered along the shoreline of Trail Lake and watched eight kayaks carrying 12 people and dogs paddle from Ed’s dock to the railroad tracks on the other side of the lake and back. Moose Pass residents Jeff Clay won first place, Jesse Labenski came in second place, and Marion Glaser paddled in a close third as enthusiasts cheered them into the finish line.
