The following incidents were reported to Detachment E of the Alaska State Troopers.
Revoked License: On July 27 at approximately 8:p.m. the Trooper DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle on Arlberg Road near the Alyeska Resort in Girdwood for multiple equipment violations. The operator was identified as Cory Bernacchi, age 30, of Girdwood. Bernacchi was found to be operating the vehicle with a revoked driver’s license and was issued a summons to appear in court for DWLR.
Warrant Arrest: On July 3 at approximately 1:30 a.m. the Trooper DUI Enforcement team stopped a vehicle near mile 99 of the Seward Hwy for a moving violation. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Bruce Hudson, age 48, of Talkeetna. Hudson was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Hudson was arrested on the warrant and remanded to the Anchorage Jail on a $250.00 bail.
Driving With A Revoked License: On July 3 at approximately 2:40 p.m. Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1991 Isuzu Rodeo near mile 98 of the Seward Hwy. because the driver did not have their head lights illuminated as required. Following an AST investigation Josiah Johnson, age 27 of Soldotna, was summons to appear in court on the charge of Driving with a Revoked Drivers License. Johnson was also issued citations for failing to wear his seat belt and for failing to have the head lights of his vehicle on as required.
Warrant Arrest/DUI: On July 4 around 2:28 a.m. the Trooper DUI Enforcement Team responded to a disturbance near mile 101 of the Seward Hwy. Troopers contacted Richard Mauer, age 22 of Fort Richardson and Rebecca Katchatag, age 26 of Anchorage. During the investigation, Katchatag was found to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest. Mauer was also found to have been operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Both were arrested. Katchatag was remanded to the Anchorage Jail on a $2500.00 bail. Mauer was released pending his arraignment in court.
Warrant Arrest/Conditional Release Violation: On July 4 at approximately 9:30 p.m. Trooper DUI Enforcement Team responded to a reported disturbance near mile 104 of the Seward Hwy. Troopers contacted Jewell Gafford, age 30 of Anchorage and Steven Richie, age 20 of Anchorage. During the investigation Richie was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant and Gafford was found to have violated her conditions of release on an assault charge. Both were arrested and remanded to the Anchorage Jail. Bail was set at $500.00 for Richie and $1500.00 for Gafford.
Sport Fishing With Two Lines: On July 4, Rick A. Pierce, 64, of Sutton was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Girdwood Post. PIERCE was cited for sport fishing with two lines in the water. Bail is set at $110.00.

DUI: On July 5 at approximately 2:26 a.m. the Tooper DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near Main St. and Gold Ave. for a moving violation. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Brian E. Fisher, age 43 of Girdwood. Fisher was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and on a suspended license. Fisher was arrested and remanded to the Anchorage Jail on a $3000.00 bail.
Outstanding Warrant: On July 6 at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Trooper DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near mile 72 of the Seward Hwy. for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Cisco A. Reyes, age 22, of Anchorage. Reyes was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest for Contempt of Court. Reyes was arrested and remanded to the Anchorage Jail where he is being held on $1,000 bail.
Warrant Arrest: On July 6 at approximately 11:45 p.m. Trooper DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near mile 2 of the Alyeska Hwy. for an equipment violation. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Blane Rogers, at 18, of Anchorage. Rogers was arrested and remanded to the Anchorage Jail without bail.
Marijuana Possession: On July 6 at approximately 10:40 p.m., Troopers stopped a vehicle near mile 94 of the Seward Hwy. for an equipment violation. Following an AST investigation, two male juveniles were found to be possession of a small amount of marijuana. Both male juveniles were released to their parents. Charges of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 6th Degree will be forwarded for prosecution.
Theft: On July 7 at around 7 p.m., Alana Whelan, age 26 of Anchorage, reported the theft of a cash box, containing between $400.00 and $500.00 in cash, from her booth at the Forest Fair in Girdwood. Troopers searched the local area for the suspect which is described at being a white male juvenile with shoulder length brown hair. The suspect was not located. He was wearing a dark blue hooded sweat shirt and black jeans. Anyone with information regarding this crime are urged to contact the Alaska State Troopers in Girdwood at 783-0972.
Driving With A Revoked Driver’s License: On July 7 at approximately 2:40 a.m., the Trooper DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near mile 99 of the Seward Hwy. for an equipment violation. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Darrin Huycke, age 21, of Wasilla. Huycke was found to have a revoked driver’s license. Huycke was issued a summons to appear in court for the DWLR and released from the scene.
DUI: On July 7 around 3:33 a.m., the Trooper DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near mile 2 of the Alyeska Hwy. for an equipment violation. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Shane Stragier, age 19, of Anchorage. Stragier was found to be operating the vehicle after consuming alcohol. Stragier was issued a summons to appear in court for MOCA and MCA.
Leaving Scene Of Disturbance: On July 7 at approximately 1:26 a.m., the Trooper DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near Hightower Rd. and the Alyeska Hwy. for leaving the scene of a disturbance. The operator of the vehicle was identified as William Hacket, age 14, of Anchorage. Hackett was found to be operating the vehicle DWLR, MOCA, MCA. Hackett was issued a summons to appear in court for DWLR, MOCA, MCA.
DUI: On July 7 at approximately 4:49 a.m. the Trooper DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of the Seward Hwy. and Alyeska Hwy. for erratic driving. The driver was identified Ian P. Bridgman, age 21, of Elmendorf AFB near Anchorage. Bridgman was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Bridgman was arrested for DUI. Bridgman was remanded to the Anchorage Jail on a $750 bail.
Minor Consuming Alcohol: On July 7 at approximately 8:15 p.m. hours, the AST DUI Enforcement Team contacted Cara Covey, age 19 of Wasilla, near mile 1 of the Alyeska Hwy. Covey was found to have recently consumed alcohol. Covey was issued a summons to appear in court at a later date for MCA and released from the scene.
Minor Consuming Alcohol: On July 7 around 9:15 p.m., Troopers contacted a 17 year old male at the Forest Fair in Girdwood after he was observed to be in possession of a container of alcohol. It was also determined he had recently consumed some of the alcohol. The male juvenile was summons to appear in court on the charge of Minor consuming Alcohol and released from the scene.
Minor Consuming Alcohol: On July 7 at approximately 11:43 p.m., Troopers contacted Silas Romig, age 20 of Eagle River, at the Forest Fair in Girdwood after he was observed with a container of alcohol. It was also determined that Romig had recently consumed some of the alcohol in the container. He was summons to appear in court for Minor Consuming Alcohol and released from the scene.
Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 6th Degree: On July 7 at approximately 1:23 a.m., Troopers contacted Katie Bird, age 20 of Wasilla, at the Forest Fair in Girdwood. Following an investigation, Bird was summons to appear in court on the charge of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 6th Degree and released from the scene.
DUI: On July 8 at approximately 4:00 a.m. the Trooper DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near mile 94 of the Seward Hwy. for erratic driving. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Donald Hafer, age 25 of Anchorage. Hafer was found to be operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Hafer was arrested for DUI and remanded to the Anchorage Jail on a $ 1,000.00 bail.
Minor Consuming Alcohol: On July 8 at approximately 5:00 a.m., the Trooper DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near mile 94 of the Seward Hwy. for a moving violation. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Carrigan Grigsby, age 19 of Anchorage. Grigsby was found to have recently consumed alcohol. Grigsby was issued a summons to appear in court for Minor Consuming alcohol and released from the scene.
DUI: On July 8 around 5:30 a.m. the Trooper DUI Enforcement
Team stopped a vehicle near mile 98.5 of the Seward Hwy. for a moving violation. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Kenneth R. Bollinger, age 30 of Anchorage. Bollinger was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Bollinger was arrested for DUI and remanded to the Anchorage Jail on a $ 500.00 bail.
DUI: On July 8 at approximately 3:26 a.m. the Trooper DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near mile 100 of the Seward Hwy. for a moving violation. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Dirk Fitzpatrick, age 29 of Anchorage. Fitzpatrick was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Fitzpatrick was arrested for DUI and remanded to the Anchorage Jail on a $ 250.00 bail.
Felony DUI/Driving With Suspended License: On July 8 at approximately 7:47 a.m. the Trooper DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle at the Girdwood Tesoro for a REDDI report. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Bobby D. Kirkwood, age 34 of Anchorage. Kirkwood was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and with a suspended license. Kirkwood was arrested for Felony DUI & Driving While License Suspended after learning Kirkwood had two prior DUI convictions within ten years. Kirkwood was remanded to Anchorage Jail on a $5000.00 bail.
DUI: On July 8 at approximately 6:00 p.m. the Trooper DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near mile 99.5 Seward Hwy. for a REDDI report. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Gordon K. Jaynes, age 74 of Anchorage. Jaynes was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Jaynes was arrested for DUI. Jaynes was remanded to Anchorage Jail on a $250.00 bail.
