Located in downtown Anchorage, Teriyaki Box uses homemade Teriyaki sauce and prepares everything fresh to order. They have a wide selection that covers Teriyaki, Noodle Bowls, and sushi.

The summer of 2009 has been the best! Last year is a dismal, dim memory, as each beautiful day brings us great weather, and many options for fun. Read on if you’re looking for the unusual.
First and foremost, is The Moose’s Tooth 13th Annual Birthday bash with Citizen Cope July 18th. This is going to be a great time for everyone. Citizen Cope, (also known as Clarence Greenwood) hails from Washington, D.C., and now lives in Brooklyn, New York. He’s described as an Alternative Rocker. I would agree. I like his song, Holding On. He’s touring to promote his new record, The Rainwater LP.
The rest of the lineup for this party includes: Albino, Heavy Heavy with the Whipsaws, Jewel, Keller Williams, The Hold Steady, and Donovan Frankenreiter. This party also boasts the biggest, and best beer garden of the summer. Moose’s Tooth will present a special anniversary brew, and a giant outdoor margarita garden. Tickets can be purchased on line, or at the BearTooth Theatre/pub box office at 1230 W. 27th Ave. Hours: Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m. - 9 p.m., Noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday. For information call: 258-2537.
For all you pageantry lovers, the first Mrs. Alaska Contest will be held at the Bartlett High School July 18th at 8:00 p.m. For more information call: 632-7775.
Speaking of Beauty Queens, check out the Governor’s Annual Picnic July 25th at the Delany Park Strip. This free event should be interesting this year. Will Ex-Governor Sarah Palin show, or will it be Sean Parnell hosting solo? From Noon – 3:00 p.m. For information call: 350-5451 or angelfromak@yahoo.com.
The Dog Jog at East High promises to be a great race. This will be the 15th Annual Dog Jog, which is an annual fundraiser for Friends of Pets. This annual love fest for dogs, is Saturday, July 25th. You can register the “day of” at 8:30 a.m. The Family Fair, features vendors, food and music. It opens at 9:00 a.m., and the run/walk with 5k, and 1 mile options, begins at 10:00 a.m. After the run, there will be games and contests for dogs and their families. For more information: 562-7446.
Mshuggah-Nun at Cyrano’s! Imagine the Nunsense sisters on an Alaskan cruise. Yes, that’s the premise of this hilarious production. The plot circles around the Nuns rescuing a production of Fiddler On The Roof. The show runs through August 16th. Cyrano’s is located on the corner of 4th and D Street. For information: 274-2599.
My restaurant pick this month is, Teriyaki Box. Located in downtown Anchorage, this rustic corner eatery, is a cheery spot to enjoy lunch or dinner. Teriyaki Box uses homemade Teriyaki sauce and prepares everything fresh to order. They have a wide selection that covers Teriyaki, Noodle Bowls, and sushi. I enjoy the Seafood Combo Box. All of it is reasonable priced, and they have daily Lunch Specials that make it economical. 4011 I Street, 248-4011. Hours: Monday-Friday 11:00 am-8:00 p.m., Saturday 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
