TROOPER REPORT

The following incidents were reported to Detachment E of the Alaska State Troopers.

Marijuana Possession: On May 25, at approximately 9:31 p.m., Troopers in Girdwood summoned Joshua Christensen, age 28 of Utah, to appear in court on the charge of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 6th degree after he was found to in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Christensen was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a moving violation near mile 91 of the Seward highway.

Marijuana Possession: On Saturday, May 26 at 3:a.m., Troopers summoned Tanner Exposito, age 26 of Texas, for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 6th Degree (possession of Marijuana). Exposito was contacted on a traffic stop for a moving violation. Exposito was issued several citations. Exposito was released at the scene.

Driving while License Suspended: On Sunday, May27 at 7:28 p.m., Troopers arrested Peter E. Mayac age 26 of Anchorage for driving while license suspended. Mayac was contacted on a traffic stop in the Girdwood area for failure to wear his seat belt. Mayac was issued a seat belt ticket and a summons to appear in Anchorage court for the charge of DWLS. Mayac was released at the scene.

DUI: On Sunday, May 27 at 10:11 p.m. Troopers arrested David A. Potocnik, 55, of Bird Creek for driving under the influence (DUI) and Refusal to submit to a chemical test to determine his alcohol content. Potocnik was contacted on a traffic stop in the Girdwood area for a moving violation. Potocnik was issued traffic citations for failure to wear his seat belt, failure to show proof of vehicle insurance, failure to show vehicle registration card, failure to show driver license, and open container of alcohol beverage. Potocnik was remanded to the Anchorage Jail with bail set at $500 cash for the DUI, and $500 cash for the refusal.

Fishing without a Sports Fishing License: On May 27, Raymond Hayes, 42 of Anchorage, was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for sport fishing in Prince William Sound without a 2007 sport fish license. Bail is set at $210.00 at Anchorage Court.

Fishing with Improper Markings of a Buoy: On May 27, Archie Kinch, 49, of Palmer, was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for sport fishing a shrimp pot in Prince William Sound without the proper markings on the buoy. Bail is set at $110.00 in Anchorage District Court.

DUI/Driving without a Valid License: On May 28 at approximately 10:41 p.m. the AST DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near mile 104 of the Seward Hwy. (within the traffic safety corridor) for speeding. The operator was identified as Julie L. Hedges, age 37, of Anchorage. Hedges was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, without a valid driver’s license, and with a 3 year old child in the vehicle. Hedges was arrested for DUI, NVOL, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Hedges was transported to the Girdwood AST Post where she was processed and released on her own recognizance per the magistrate pending her arraignment in court.

DUI: On Saturday, June 2 at 9:39 p.m., Troopers arrested Randall D. Beagley, 61 of Anchorage for DUI. Beagley was contacted within the traffic safety corridor at mile 103 of the Seward Hwy because he lost control of his late model Chevrolet Corvette and crashed into a ditch. Beagley and his passenger were uninjured and there was no damage to his vehicle. Beagley was remanded to the Anchorage Jail with bail set at $250.00 Cash only.

Driving with a Revoked License: On June 2, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Troopers in Girdwood contacted Daniel Figueroa, age 23 of Girdwood, during a traffic stop near mile 109 of the Seward Hwy. An AST investigation revealed that Figueroa was driving with a revoke driver’s license. He was summons to appear in court on the charge of DWRL and cited for Failure to Show Proof of Insurance.

Improper Use of Evidence of Registration: On June 3, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Troopers in Girdwood conducted a traffic stop on a grey Ford Ranger pickup because the driver did not have the head lights illuminated as required.
Following an AST investigation, Gary Burgess, age 27 of Anchorage, was arrested for Improper Use of Evidence of Registration and lodged at the Anchorage Jail. Bail was set $1,500.00.

Fishing with a Dipnet: On June 6, Faanoi Mose, 46, from The Territory of American Samoa, was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for personal use fishing with a dip net in 20 mile river without a 2007 sport fish license. Bail is set at $210.00 at Anchorage Court.

Warrant Arrest: On June 11, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Trenton G. Shriver, age 30 of Whittier, was contacted by the Alaska State Troopers and Whittier Police Department for a warrant service in Whittier. Shriver was arrested on a warrant for Failure to Appear. The original charge was DWLS. He was remanded at the Anchorage Jail with a $500.00 bail.

Driving with a Revoked License: On June 11, at approximately 5:15 p.m. hours, Troopers in Girdwood contacted John Eastaugh, age 27 of Girdwood, near mile 92 of the Seward Hwy. Eastaugh was the driver of a vehicle that had been stopped for numerous moving and equipment violations. Following an AST investigation, Eastaugh was summons to appear in court on the charge of Driving with a Revoked Operators License.

Felony Eluding and Reckless Driving: On June 12 at 2:34 p.m., Troopers arrested Deepak Chaudhary, age 23 of Anchorage for Felony Eluding and Reckless Driving. The incident started near mile 90 of the Seward Hwy. Troopers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle for reckless driving. Anchorage police dispatch was advised that the vehicle failed to stop for an AST marked patrol unit with emergency lights and siren activated. APD sent several officers southbound to assist. Chaudhary stopped at mile 113 of the Seward Highway where Alaska State Troopers and the Anchorage Police Department had set up a tire deflation device in the road. Chaudhary stopped before running over the tire deflation device. Chaudhary was taken into custody with the assistance of Anchorage police officers and remanded to the Anchorage Jail. Chaudhary’s vehicle was impounded and Chaudhary’s bail was set at $5,000 cash only plus a court approved third party custodian. The Alaska State Troopers would like to thank the Anchorage Police Department with their quick response and the use of their resources.

Fishing with a Dipnet: On June 14, Daniel Brooks, 53, of Anchorage, was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for personal use fishing with a dip net in Turnagain Arm during a closed season. Court is set for July 19, in Anchorage District Court.\

Driving with a Revoked Driver’s License/Violation of Felony Probation: On June 15, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Troopers in Girdwood conducted a traffic stop on a black Jeep Liberty near mile 108 of the Seward Hwy for speeding. Following an AST investigation, Ronald Dolchok Jr, age 32 of Kasilof, was arrested for Driving with a Revoked Drivers License and for violating his felony probation. He was transported to and lodged at the Anchorage Jail without bail.

Warrant Arrest: On June 16, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Troopers in Girdwood contacted Bruce Paterson, age 31 of Seward, as the passenger in a vehicle that had been stopped regarding a traffic complaint. An AST investigation revealed that Paterson had a $1,000.00 AST warrant for his arrest for Failure to Appear for a DUI arraignment. Paterson was also found to have an extraditable warrant out of Wisconsin for a probation violation. Paterson was transported to and lodged at the Anchorage Jail without bail.

Fishing with Two Lines: On June 16, Kelly Hanson, 44, of Sutton, was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for sport fishing with two lines in the water. Bail is set at $110.00 at Anchorage District Court.
