Loudon Wainwright III is not only an American songwriter, and the father of Martha, Rufus and Lucy, he’s also famous as a Folk singer, humorist, and actor. He’ll be performing a knock out concert that will feature Hot Tuna: Jorma Kaukonen (guitar), Jack Casady (bass) and Barry Mitterhoff (mandolin). Jack and Jorma are the founding members of Jefferson Airplane. They may be dinosaurs, but they can still rock! May 9, 7:30 pm Alaska Center for the Performing Arts - Discovery Theatre.
Chilkoot Charlie’s is holding it’s all age outdoor concert this year on June 20 with Puddle of Mudd as the headliner. They are from Kansas City, Missouri and are described as Post Grunge. The Imaginarium moves to the Anchorage Museum! The Anchorage Museum will be closed in April and May to accommodate the move into the new addition. During this time, crews also will start building the new Imaginarium Discovery Center.
On Saturday, May 30, the Anchorage Museum will reopen after more than a year’s worth of expansion. Museum admission will be free all day, thanks to the generous support of Wells Fargo!
On Aug. 24 The Imaginarium will permanently close its downtown facility at 737 W. 5th Avenue in preparation for merging with the Anchorage Museum on Sept. 19. It will open with traveling exhibit, Science in Toyland, which will be on display in combination with the museum’s new Children’s Art Gallery. The Imaginarium, 737 West 5th Ave. #G, Anchorage.
