Four Valleys Community School (FVCS) is gearing up for the summer season even though it is still snowing! If you missed the “Early Bird” Registration for summer offerings, you have another chance. Come see us at the Girdwood School on May 13 at 7:00 p.m. to register for Soccer, Science Camp, Girls Softball, Biking and others. Look for a purple Summer Program Guide coming to your post office box soon.
We are planning to offer Summer Playground for ages 3-4 and 5 year olds going in to kindergarten, and for those youngsters going in to grades 1-3. We are looking for Summer Playground Leaders. Successful applicants will be enthusiastic about working with children, have some experience planning and implementing activities, be trained in first aid and CPR along with other qualifications. Call the FVCS office for more information at 742-5317.
Please join us for the annual Volunteer Barbecue to be held Sunday, June 1 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It will be held at the Marlow Pavilion this year. This is a chance to celebrate the contributions of all the awesome volunteers who make our organizations tick. Food and beverages will be provided, and awards from the various organizations will be announced. Families are welcome. Please nominate someone you know who deserves the overall Community Service award. Nomination forms are available at the post office and at the FVCS office, located in the Girdwood School.
FVCS wishes to thank all of the amazing instructors, coaches, artists, travelers, exercise enthusiasts (the list goes on and on), most of whom have volunteered their time to offer a class in their particular area of expertise during this school year. You make our community a greater place to live! The FVCS board is working to ensure the programs we offer are continued in to the foreseeable future (more on that in a later issue).
Looking ahead to the fall please think about auditioning for our Community Theatre production of the “Music Man”stay tuned for dates to be announced in September. And even though the snow is just melting, be thinking about next ski season. FVCS will be offering scholarships for aspiring alpine and Nordic skiers, with the funds to go towards a season pass and/or equipment.
As the snow melts, remember that Community Clean Up day is May 10!
