Motor Vehicle Crash: On March 12 at approximately 8:40 p.m. troopers
received a report of a motor vehicle crash at mile 30 on the Seward Highway.
Seward based State Troopers responded and an Investigation revealed that Ross Brinkerhoff, age 19 of Anchorage, was driving south bound on the Seward Highway when he lost control of the 1999 Ford Ranger. Brinkerhoff reported swerving to avoid hitting a moose. Brinkerhoff’s vehicle spun out of control and drove up the guardrail on the north side of the roadway and ended up on the opposite side of the guardrail from the roadway. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $1000 and damage to the guardrail was significant. Brinkerhoff and his passenger, Loran Morrison 18 years old from Anchorage, were wearing their seat belts and received no injuries in the crash. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Outstanding Arrest Warrant: On March 14 at approximately 6:35 p.m. near Hightower Road, in Girdwood, Troopers arrested Mark A. Wells, age 23, of Girdwood on an
outstanding arrest warrant for Failure To Appear original charge of DWLS. Wells was originally contacted while conducting contacts in another matter. Total bail for the warrant was $2,500.

Motor Vehicle Collision/ DUI: On March 18 at approximately 5:03 p.m., troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision in Hope at mile 56.5 of the Seward Highway. Investigation revealed Edna K. Millar, age 54 of Anchorage, was southbound in her 2004 Saturn sedan when she lost control of the vehicle hitting the guard rail. Millar was arrested for DUI and remanded into Anchorage Jail with bail set at $1500.00 c/c and release when sober. Millar’s passenger was transported by paramedics to a local hospital for minor injuries. Both Millar and her passenger reported wearing their seatbelts.

Leaving the scene of an accident: On March 22 at 2:40 p.m., Abbie M. Baugh age 34 of Girdwood reported on March 21 that sometime between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. unknown person(s) struck her Subaru vehicle while it was parked unattended in a parking area off of Olympic Loop in Girdwood. Baugh’s vehicle sustained more than $500 damage. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP or the Alaska State Troopers at 907-783-0972. The investigation is continuing.

Motor vehicle collision: On March 20 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision near Mile 96.8 of the Seward Highway. Investigation determined that a 2003 Toyota Tacoma Pickup truck, driven by Ryan C. Cox, age 31, of Anchorage, was proceeding Northbound on the Seward Highway when he lost of his vehicle rounding a curve. His vehicle skidded across the center line and was struck in the right side by a 1980 Kenworth Logging truck, driven by Kenneth R. Leader, age 58, of Cooper Landing, which was proceeding Southbound. Cox was transported to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries. Cox was issued a citation for Basic Speed.

Motor vehicle collision: On March 21 at approximately 5:27 p.m., troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision near Mile 95.8 of the Seward Highway. Investigation determined that a 1988 Chevy Pickup Truck, driven by Amy E. Novakovich, age 16, of Anchorage, was proceeding Northbound on the Seward Highway when she lost control of her vehicle and skidded across the centerline and was struck by a 2000 Chevy Pickup truck, driven by Julie Evenson, age 33, of Portage, who was traveling Southbound. Evenson was treated at the scene by the Girdwood EMS and released. All occupants were reported wearing their seatbelts.

DUI: On March 30 at approximately 12:20 p.m. in the Girdwood Tesoro Parking Lot troopers arrested Victor L. Mikulin, age 46, of Anchorage, for DUI after the troopers received a REDDI report on the vehicle he was driving. Mikulin was remanded into the Anchorage Jail on $500.00 cash bail.
