The Girdwood Library and Community Center grand opening was suppose to be March 25, a month later than expected. Now the opening has been pushed back again to mid-May. “The artist (Pat Shelton) is not going to complete the mosaic floor tiling in the lobby until the middle of May,” said Grant Leader, Project Manager for the Municipality. “The library will start moving books and material and new furnishing in the next few weeks. We’re still working to complete the library wing, final building inspections, and mechanical start-ups like the heating and ventilation.” A ceremonial opening will be held for the grand opening.
The Girdwood School Science Fair will be held on Wed., April 9 at the school. Students will be presenting their projects to guest evaluators during the school day, and the Fair will be open from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 pm for the public to check out the projects. Everyone is welcome to attend and view the interesting projects that the students have been working on.
