Girdwood’s Chythlook-Sifsof captures women’s snowboard cross title

Girdwood’s Callan Chythlook-Sifsof had perhaps her biggest win of her three-year career when she captured the women’s title at the snowboard cross finals of the Jeep King of the Mountain Championship in Sun Valley, Idaho, Friday, March 14.
With the win, 19-year-old Chythlook-Sifsof clinched the women’s overall season standings. She edged out the favorite in the competition, defending champion Lindsey Jacobellis, an Olympic silver medalist with four world cup championships this season.
Chylook-Sifsof is quickly establishing herself as one of the best hopefuls on the U.S. Snowboard team for the upcoming 2010 winter Olympics in Vancouver.
“The Olympics is my next goal,” she said after her victory in Sun Valley, “and having competed on the World Cup circuit and winning this event today, it shows me that I can hold my own with anyone.”
