Alyeska Resort opened Max’s proper to the public for this first time in its history. Max’s sits at 3,302 feet in elevation and skiers accessed the upper Max’s Chutes via a boot pack to the Headwall and short hike along the ridge.

Super Bowl Sunday
Start out game day with 2-for-1 lift tickets on Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 5, valid on Adult, Student and Child lift tickets. Then, ski or ride right into your bar of choice for pre-game coverage. Live at the Sitz
The Sitzmark continues to offer an impressive music line-up this winter. Up-and-coming Alaskan band LaVoy will perform on Feb. 3 & 4 and tickets for the show cost $5. Other notable upcoming concerts include Vince Herman & Great American Taxi, Pato Banton and Lucero. Two-for-One Thursday tickets are your chance to see big name bands without breaking the bank. Sign up by 8 p.m. and music starts at 9 p.m. The resort has recently confirmed a concert by alt-rock legend J Mascis and the Fog on March 30 and 31 in the Daylodge.
Absolut™ Trivia
Join us for the first ever Absolut™ Trivia Night on Wednesday, Feb. 8. Whether you get a team together or go it alone, this will be classic pub trivia at its finest and your chance to prove to friends and neighbors just how smart you really are. All players will be entered to win weekly raffle prizes plus the coveted grand prize of a private snowcat trip with Chugach Powder Guides for you and eleven of your closest friends. Additional raffle tickets will be awarded to trivia winners or to those who purchase select Absolut™ cocktails throughout the evening. Frostbite Festival
ZAK’s Boardroom & Huycke Entertainment present the 2nd Annual Frostbite Festival, a weekend of freestyle fun and live music from Feb. 10 – 12. All proceeds from this event benefit the Girdwood Skate Park. Kick-off the weekend with the Mountain Metal Mayhem rail jam in the Sitzmark Park from 6 to 9 p.m. followed by a free concert Friday night featuring Bolt Action Beaver, Necrotic Opus & Decepticide (21 & over). Start Saturday off with the Little Yeti Big Air comp from 6 to 9 p.m. followed by Zak’s After-Party, another free concert featuring A.T.F. and Band B. Finish out the weekend with the Save the Princess Mini-Pipe Comp on Sunday, Feb. 12 from 2 to 5 p.m. Check online for the full schedule of events and additional comp details.

Snow Film Series
Alyeska’s Snow Film Series continues on Wednesday, Feb. 15 with the Ski Channel’s Film Fest Tour. The double header will showcase their 2010 and 2011 features, The Story and Winter, two extraordinary tales of winter adventure. Show time is 7 p.m. and tickets cost $5. Next up in the schedule will be Poor Boyz Productions’ The Grand Bizarre and Oakley’s Ordinary Skier on Feb. 29.
Mardi Gras
Grab your beads and head to the Sitzmark on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 21 for a night with the Zydecohos. Dress up for “theme night” in your interpretation of a Mardi Gras costume for a chance to win tons of great prizes. Music starts at 8 p.m. and admission is free. 21 & over only, please.
North Face Vertical Challenge
Start getting your legs in shape now for the North Face Vertical Challenge on Friday, February 24. Skiers and snowboarders will test their endurance during this day-long race in which 50 competitors vie to see who can get the most accumulated vertical on the North Face from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Contestants will use a special gate to access the steep and wide open North Face and the winner will be the man and woman with the most laps at the end of the day.
Seven Glaciers Wine Dinners
The Winter Wine Dinner series continues on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m., featuring the Wagner Family of Wine, a fifth generation Napa Valley dynasty that includes the Caymus, Mer Soleil, Conundrum and Belle Glos labels. The dinner will feature special guest speaker Chuck Wagner, the director of the world-renowned Cabernet program at Caymus Vineyards. The evening includes a Chef’s Tasting Menu to complement the featured wines, available for $165 per person. Call 754-2237 for reservations.
