The Alaska State Troopers reported the following incidents. Any charges reported are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Hunting Without a License In Possession
PORTAGE—January 31 at around 3 p.m., Joseph Christiansen, age 48 of Anchorage, was cited by Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Girdwood Post, for Hunting Without a Valid License In Possession. Bail was set at $260 at the Anchorage District Court.
Motor Vehicle Collision
INDIAN—February 6 at approximately 2 p.m., Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision near Mile 106 of the Seward Highway. An investigation determined that a 2000 Ford truck, driven by 56-year-old Anchorage resident Roy W. Neese, was traveling southbound and rear ended a 2008 Mercedes sedan driven by 56-year-old Anchorage resident Eugene P. Isabella, who was slowing down with traffic. Both drivers reported wearing their seatbelts and having no injuries. Damage to the truck was estimated at $1,000. Damage to the sedan was estimated at $4,000. Neese was issued a citation for Following too Closely.
Theft and Recovered Stolen Property
GIRDWOOD—February 6 at around 4:24 p.m., Shawn M. March, age 31 of Girdwood, reported to Alaska State Troopers that he found his snowboard that was stolen on Jan. 22 at the Alyeska Hotel in Girdwood. Troopers contacted the individual who had the snowboard and recovered the snowboard. An investigation is continuing.
Warrant Arrest
GIRDWOOD—February 12 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Troopers’ Bureau of Highway Patrol, Girdwood Team, stopped a vehicle near mile 99 of the Seward Highway for a moving violation. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Brian Porterfield, age 34 of Colorado. Porterfield had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The warrant was for Failure to comply with probation, original charge Credit Card Fraud. Porterfield was arrested on the warrant and was remanded at Anchorage Jail where he was held on a $2,500 bail.
Motor Vehicle Crash, Injury
GIRDWOOD—February 13 at 10:55 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles in a head-on collision. The crash was on Arlberg Avenue near Aspen Drive in Girdwood. The crash investigation determined Steven D. Post, age 26 of Kenai, was operating a late model four-door passenger car heading towards the Alyeska Hotel. The road was covered with snow. Post was traveling too fast for roadway conditions. Post failed to maintain his traffic lane on a curve and slid into the on-coming lane and struck an on-coming late model sport utility vehicle head-on. The crash impact was forceful enough to cause the airbags in Post’s vehicle to deploy. Post’s adult female passenger sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to an Anchorage area hospital for treatment. Both vehicles sustained more than $500 damage. Post was issued traffic citations.
DUI
GIRDWOOD—February 11 at approximately 11 p.m., Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 VW Golf in Girdwood for driving into a ditch after seen leaving a bar. The driver, Erik T. Anderson, age 27 of Girdwood, was determined to be intoxicated, and subsequently arrested for Driving under the Influence. Anderson was remanded to the custody of Anchorage Jail and held pending arraignment.
Marijuana Possession
GIRDWOOD—February 13 at approximately 12:40 p.m., Troopers stopped a white 1999 Ford Expedition near mile 93 of the Seward Highway for a moving violation. The driver was identified as R.G., age 16 of Anchorage. An investigation revealed R.G. had marijuana in his possession. R.G. was issued a Misdemeanor Citation to appear in court and released.
Warrant Arrest
GIRDWOOD—February 13 at around 5 p.m., Troopers stopped a gold Ford Contour near mile 105 of the Seward Highway for a moving violation. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Jessica Wall, age 20 of Palmer. A records check revealed Wall had an outstanding warrant for her arrest for Failure to Comply with Probation on the original charge of Habitual Minor Consuming. Wall was placed under arrest, transported to the Anchorage Jail, and remanded. Bail was set at $250.
