A visitor once noted that Alaskans enjoy wearing T-shirts advertising their state. It’s true. It’s hard not to be proud living here in such a beautiful place. As artists living in Alaska we can’t help but be appreciative of the constant source of inspiration right outside our windows. New artists emerge everyday, keeping those that have been there in their trade a while fresh and keeping art lovers engaged with new and exciting work.
The Girdwood Center for Visual Arts is honored to welcome in a few of these artists: Denise Gallup fiber art, Shoman Ryan sumi-e painting, Katie Cronk silk painting, Kassrina Knodel pottery, Kathleen Keusenkothen photography and hand styled boxes and Phillip Nichols photography are new features at the GCVA. We are happy to have these new additions to our artists group. We are also delighted to welcome back Judith Lindenfelser fiber art.
Are you an artist at heart? Maybe you can’t draw a stick figure but that doesn’t dampen your love of art. We want you! The Girdwood Center for Visual Arts is welcoming in those interested in volunteering for our gallery Board. No experience is required. If you love art and would like to help support the Girdwood gallery you are a perfect fit. Please call 783-3494 or e-mail jeanniealaska@gmail.com for details.
Each new day brings inspiration to all of us. Whether we are driving to our job and are detoured by a baby moose and mother or are sketching through rain drops on Turnagain Arm. Here is hoping the rest of your summer is filled with great, new experiences.
