The summer rain has come, but I encourage everyone to get outside rain or shine and do every summer thing you can think of because we have at least one more month left of warm days.

First Tap at the Bear Tooth Theatre Pub & Grill is having Cake! I love this band. Known for their hit, ‘The Distance’, I always enjoy their cover version of, “I Will Survive’. This concert will also feature the release of a new beer at Bear Tooth! First Tap Aug. 5. Doors open at 6 p.m. 1230 West 27th Avenue. For more information: 276-4200.

Raven’s Radio Hour and Tales of the Frozen North are back again at Cyrano’s Off Broadway Theatre through Aug. 14. You must check for times cause they are subject to change. Both plays are a funny look at Alaska’s Native culture and the culture of the people who came to the Great Land looking for their fortune.
The scripts are based on legends, stories and present day occurrences, Raven’s Radio Hour is portrayed as a ‘40s style radio variety show, hosted by Raven, the joker of many Alaska’s Native cultures. Prominent Native performers will demonstrate why culture is to be honored, respected and enjoyed with humor.
The Tales from the Frozen North are ‘true’ stories about the Gold Rush, dogs and a cavalcade of characters created by and performed by Alaska’s Master Storyteller Linda Benson and featuring CTC favorite Scarlet Kittylee Boudreaux. Cyrano’s Off Broadway Theatre, 413 D Street. For information: 274-2599.
Haru Sushi is my restaurant pick of the month. Located on Dimond Boulevard in an old Pizza Hut, Haru is Japanese for spring. Haru Sushi does an excellent job at a variety of rolls and many Japanese dishes. The Lunch Special is a great bang for your buck and their Dragon Roll is the best in Anchorage. The service is friendly and the owner Hank is a mellow man who watches over his restaurant and has hired a top-notch staff. They do a drawing the first Tuesday night of the month for $200 worth of free sushi. You have to be there to win. Open seven days a week. Haru Sushi, 729 Dimond Boulevard.
In my June 23 Out Of The Town column, I reported that Jonathan White, owner of Steam Dot Coffee—the restaurant pick of the week—was co-owner of Kaladi Brothers Coffee Company, but he was actually co-owner of Silverhook LLC, a sister company of Kaladi Brothers, which is a joint venture of Midnight Moon Inc., the parent company of Kaladi Brothers.
