An exciting lunch with Scenic Mountain Air pilot, Darlene.

Lunch at the Library

Moose Pass Library sponsored a special event on June 30 as part of their Summer Reading Program. Deanna Thomas arranged for Scenic Mountain Air to give a talk to the kids about airplanes and being a pilot in Alaska. The kids came up with some great answers for Darlene’s questions about the importance of float planes. The kids were allowed to go out on the docks for a close up view of the planes. A big surprise was that each child was given the opportunity to sit in the pilot seat.

Forest Service Trail Updates

Thanks to our dedicated Rangers at the Kenai Lake Work Center in Moose Pass, we have updated Forest Service trail information in-and-around Moose Pass.

Updates as of July 8

Lost Lake Trail to Primrose Trail in the alpine is now passable on foot, however this area is still in the process of melting. There are patches of snow throughout the area though most of it is concentrated on the south side of Lost Lake, and there are areas of mud on the trail. Lost Lake is still frozen. Summit Creek Trail is now free of snow except for some patches at the two passes.
