The Alaska State Troopers reported the following incidents. Any charges reported are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Drive While License Revoked

GIRDWOOD—June 15 at 3:15 p.m., Troopers arrested John David Hawick, age 53 of Anchorage, on a $500 Anchorage Police Dept. warrant. The warrant was for failure to appear for arraignment on an original charge of driving under the influence (DUI). Hawick was operating a late 90's model passenger car and contacted on a traffic stop for a seat belt violation. An investigation revealed Hawick's Alaska driver's license was revoked from a DUI. Hawick was issued traffic citations for failure to wear a seat belt, no proof of vehicle insurance, and possession of a revoked driver's license. Hawick's vehicle was impounded and Hawick was remanded to the Anchorage Correctional Complex on the $500 warrant. Hawick was also issued a misdemeanor mandatory court appearance citation for Driving While License Revoked.

Motor Vehicle Collision

SEWARD HIGHWAY MILE 57—June 21 at around 5:30 p.m., The Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula Team Girdwood responded to mile 57 of the Seward Highway for a report of a collision involving two motorcycles. Any investigation revealed that a group of motorcycles were traveling northbound on the Seward Highway when one of the riders fell behind. A few members of the group turned around and headed southbound to find the other member. Karl Liggins, age 46, of Anchorage, saw the other member and began to turn around again. As he was turning around, John Albee, age 61, of Chugiak, collided with his motorcycle. Liggins and his passenger, age 12, were thrown from the bike. Albee was also thrown from his bike. All three parties were wearing helmets. Liggins and his passenger were transported to Providence Hospital via LifeMed. Albee was transported to Providence by ambulance. All injuries are considered non-life threatening. At this time no citations have been issued.

Failure to Give Immediate Notice of an Accident, No Insurance, Motor Vehicle Collision

HOPE—June 25 at approximately midnight, Troopers responded to mile 12.5 Hope Highway for the report of a vehicle crash. An investigation revealed Sean McManamy, age 27 of Hope, was traveling East on the Hope Highway at around midnight in a black 2007 Subaru Legacy. McManamy stated he swerved to avoid an object in the roadway and crashed. McManamy returned to his residence in Hope and did not inform the Alaska State Troopers of the crash. At approximately 12:06 a.m. the crash was called in by a citizen who found the vehicle. The Hope medics found the vehicle unoccupied. The Hope medics made contact with McManamy who reported he was not injured. Further investigation revealed McManamy did not have insurance currently on the vehicle. Charges for Failure to Give Immediate Notice of an Accident and No Insurance to be filed against McManamy. McManamy reported wearing his safety belt. The vehicle was a total loss.

Methamphetamine Possession

SEWARD HIGHWAY MILE 42—June 25 at approximately 12:34 p.m., Troopers stopped a white 2005 Volkswagen Golf for a moving violation near mile 42 of the Seward Highway. The driver was identified as Herbert Aldridge, age 56 of Kenai, and a passenger was identified as Dwight Davis, age 61 of Kenai. An investigation revealed Aldridge possessed a substance, which tested positive for methamphetamine. Aldridge was placed under arrest. The vehicle was impounded for further investigation. Aldridge was transported to the Seward City Jail and remanded without bail.

Warrant Arrest

GIRDWOOD—June 26 around noon, Troopers stopped a vehicle for speeding 80 mph in a posted 65 mph zone near mile 92 of the Seward Highway in the safety corridor. Investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle, Curtis E. House, age 29 of Anchorage, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The warrant was for failure to appear; original charge Theft 2. House was arrested and remanded at the Anchorage Jail. Bail was set at $500 cash. House was also issued a traffic citation for speeding. The vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
