Jane Gideon just started her new position as General Manager at The Inn at Whittier on May 1.
I am very excited to be here and looking forward to getting to know the people and the area,” she said. “It has always been my desire to live in Alaska.”
Gideon is married and grew up in Michigan. She then moved to the Rockies and have lived in both Montana and Wyoming.
“We have one daughter and two granddaughters living in Montana and will retire to our home in Montana, some day,” she said. “We love the outdoors and enjoy camping, ATV's snowmobiles, hiking and boating. We have two pets, Labradors, who go everywhere with us. They are looking forward to Alaska also.”
Gideon has been in hospitality for the past 10 years and before that worked for the automotive industry in Michigan. Her experience ranges from a 4-diamond conference hotel with 145 guest rooms and conference space for 300 to a smaller luxury boutique hotel with 75 guest rooms. T
“The Inn at Whittier will be my first experience with an Inn,” she said, “and I look forward to the opportunity because of the one-on-one service a small property allows you to have with your guests. My husband has been a builder all his life and will now work with me at the Inn.”
Gideon said they are looking forward to a great summer of business at the Inn and have several weddings already planned during the spring and fall.
In the summer months we have packages available with Princess Glacier Cruises, several tour operators and travel agents,” she said.
“During the off season, we'll be planning special get-a-ways for romantic weekends, events, local artist performing at the Inn and corporate retreats,” she said. “So, keep an eye out for new and fun happenings at The Inn at Whittier.”
