Summer Freestyle Camp

Turn your summer into winter and take advantage of all the late season snow at Alyeska Summer Camp this June. Camp is scheduled for two sessions: June 7-11 and June 14-18 and campers can choose from one day, three day or five day packages. Fiddlehead Folk Festival

It's summer music festival time again, and people are trading in their skis for camp chairs, barbeques and bluegrass. Bring the whole family to the Daylodge on Saturday, June 19, for a full day of fun at the inaugural Fiddlehead Folk Festival. An impressive line up of both local and national bluegrass, folk and country acts will perform from noon until midnight. The festival will also feature vendors selling their handmade Alaskan arts and crafts. Vendor registration deadline is June 10. Call 754-2545 for details.

Summer Construction

Crews are gearing up for rock and dirt work on the lower mountain as soon as the snow melts. The plan is to elevate the base area of Bear Cub Quad to assist skier loading onto the chairlift, as well as to create more room between the lift and the Sitzmark. The Finnland magic carpet area next to Bear Cub Quad will be graded, filled and rebuilt lower to the ground to save snowmaking time and energy in the winter. A road will also be put in for maintenance crews to easily access the magic carpet in summer months. At the top of Bear Cub Quad, fill dirt will be used to flatten out the ramp to make off-loading easier on beginner skiers and riders.

Mountain Top Reopens

Summer season kicks off on the top of Mt. Alyeska on May 21. Bring your visiting friends and family to ride the Tram, enjoy a light lunch, visit the Roundhouse Museum or soak up the spectacular views of the Girdwood valley and Turnagain Arm. The Tram will run from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. every day and Glacier Express is open until 4:30 p.m. daily. Buy your 2010-11 season pass now and use it to ride the Tram all summer. Seven Glaciers Restaurant will be open for dinner daily through summer beginning May 28.

During her six year tenure at Hestra Gloves, LLC., a Swedish-based ski glove company, Melanie managed customer service processes, operational logistics, sales forecasting, and marketing management. Her proven experience also includes direct impacts on sales revenue generated from online channels, developing a 40+ athlete sponsorship program, and successful expansion of the company's existing distributor network.

A graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, and Front Range resident, Melanie's love for the mountains inspired her move to Southcentral Alaska. An avid snowboarder and mountain biker, Melanie plans to take advantage of the natural resources available in the last frontier.

With a cat and dog in tow, Melanie's first adventure will be the multi-day trek up the AL-CAN Highway.
