The Alaska State Troopers reported the following incidents. Any charges reported are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Warrant Arrest
WHITTIER—April 20 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Cordova Post, arrested Matthew Mobley, 19, of Anchorage. Mobley was arrested on an outstanding $1,000 warrant for forgery I and two counts of theft II. Mobley was booked into the Cordova Police Dept. Jail pending arraignment on April 21 in the District Court of Cordova.
Warrant Arrest
GIRDWOOD—April 22 at 6:35 p.m., a Trooper contacted John Patrick, age 25 of Anchorage, during a traffic stop near mile 110 of the Seward Highway. An investigation revealed that Patrick had an outstanding $100 Anchorage Police warrant for his arrest. Patrick was transported to and lodged at the Anchorage Jail.
DUI
GIRDWOOD—April 23 at approximately 7 p.m., Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a gray 1998 Chevy pick-up for speeding at mile 99 of the Seward Highway. An investigation found that Cynthia Cason, age 51, of Whittier, was driving the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Cason was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence. Cason was transported to Cook Inlet Pretrial Facility and remanded on $250 bail. Cason's vehicle was impounded.
Warrant Arrest
GIRDWOOD—April 24 at approximately 4:25 p.m. the Troopers stopped a vehicle near mile 97 of the Seward Highway for speeding. An investigation revealed Jared Walker, age 24, of Kotzebue, who was a passenger in the vehicle had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The warrant was a $100 warrant for Failure to Appear in court on the original charge of Assault in the Fourth Degree. Walker was arrested and transported to Anchorage Jail where he was remanded and held on $100 bail.
Marijuana Possession
GIRDWOOD—April 24 at around 1:00 a.m., Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a white 2009 Toyota for speeding at mile 77 of the Seward Highway. The ensuing investigation found that a passenger in the vehicle, Daniel Resnick, age 19, of Anchorage, was in possession of marijuana. Resnick was issued a misdemeanor citation for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 6th degree with a court date to appear in the Anchorage District Court and released from the scene.
DUI
GIRDWOOD—April 24 at around 8 p.m., Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a black 2007 Subaru Legacy near mile 95 of the Seward Highway after it was reported as a Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately (REDDI) vehicle. An investigation found that John Jacobsen, age 34, of Girdwood, was driving the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and without a valid driver's license. Jacobsen was arrested and transported to Cook Inlet Pretrial Facility, where he was remanded for Driving Under the Influence and Driving Without a Valid License. Jacobsen's bail was set at $500. The vehicle was impounded from the scene.
Drug Possession
COOPER LANDING—April 25 at approximately 10 p.m., Troopers conducted a traffic stop of silver 2007 Chevrolet Silverado for speeding near mile 58 of the Sterling Highway. An investigation found that Glen McGahan, age 46, of Nikiski, was in possession of several different types of controlled substances. McGahan was arrested and charged with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in 4th, 5th and 6th degree. McGahan was transported to Wildwood Pretrial Facility where he was held without bail. McGahan's vehicle was impounded from the scene.
Marijuana Possession/Moving Violation
MOOSE PASS—April 29 at 8:40 p.m., Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a black, 1994 Chevy SUV driven by Michael Conway, age 52 of Anchorage. Conway was stopped near milepost 40 of the Seward Highway for a moving violation. Conway was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Conway was issued a misdemeanor citation for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Sixth Degree with a mandatory court date in the Seward court. Conway was also issued a citation for the moving violation.
Marijuana Possession
MOOSE PASS—May 2 at around 3:24 p.m., Troopers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation at mile 44 of the Seward Highway. An investigation revealed the driver Dorothy Olmstead, 27 years old of Girdwood, and a passenger Matthew Schwartz, 25 years old of Illinois, were in possession of marijuana. Olmstead and Schwartz were issued misdemeanor citations for MICS 6 and released.
Driving While License Revoked
COOPER LANDING—May 3 at around 11 a.m., a Trooper stopped a vehicle at mile 43 of the Seward Highway for an equipment violation. The driver, 52-year-old David Mcelrea of Anchorage, was arrested for DWLR after a license check revealed Mcelrea's drivers license was currently in revoked status. Mcelrea was transported and remanded at the Seward Jail without incident.
