Recent storms brought deep powder and crowds to Alyeska over spring break. Total snow depth at the top the mountain is 240 inches. In the last 30 days over 100 inches has fallen at the top. Skiing will be open daily until Sunday, April 25. Weekend skiing will begin in May at a date to be determined.

It's Telepalooza time in Girdwood. Alyeska will be hosting their yearly Telepalooza festival from March 23-28. Telepalooza originally began as a teleskiing competition and has turned itself into the seventh annual Jeff Nissman Memorial Telemark Festival. They have incorporated skiing, teleskiing, and snowboarding competitions so all mountain lovers can enjoy themselves.

This year the theme is Space Odyssey 2010. To check out the calendar of events go to their website telepalooza.com where you can see the schedule and download registration forms.

There are activities for the extreme skier, children, and those just looking to have a good time. They will also be hosting raffles and music venues at the Sitzmark.

So head down to Alyeska during the week of Telepalooza and partake in some wintertime activities.

Other news at Alyeska is the Sustainable Girdwood Spring Benefit Concert going on at the Sitzmark on March 25.

Music will include Melissa Mitchell, Tony Restivo, Spiff, John Dykstra, Loose Gravel, Junior and much more. Also DJ Militant from KEUL radio will perform.
