Design the 35th annual Girdwood Forest Fair T-Shirt. All designs should be submitted to the Community School office at the Girdwood School or mailed to P.O. Box 455 Girdwood, AK 99587 by April 15. It's that time of the year for Easter egg hunts and pints of Guinness. Although Alaska may be far from Ireland on the map, it doesn't stop sourdoughs alike to celebrate a beer-laden holiday.
So take advantage of the local venues catering to the mad Irish.
Chair 5 will be hosting their annual St. Patrick's Day party, March 17, from 11 a.m. until supplies run out. As always they will have their $10 dollar platters. The platters include a choice between barbeque ribs, coleslaw, and cornbread, or corn beef cabbage, roasted red potatoes, and cornbread. There will also be beer and cocktail specials and their classic pot of Guinness stew. So come on down and wear your green!
The Sitzmark is also the happening place for St. Patty Day with a live Irish fiddle player and the ubiquitous green beer.
Chair 5 also wants to remind Girdwoodians that they have a satellite dish, which includes the NBA and NHL packages. They will be showing all the playoff games on one of their seven flat screen TVs. They will also be showing college March Madness games alongside some great drink specials. A great way to get your sports fix.
