Peter Rowan Trio

The Sitzmark continues its great spring line-up of nationally renowned musical acts. Next up is the Peter Rowan Trio, scheduled for March 5 and 6. Rowan is a Grammy winning bluegrass legend, playing with the likes of Bill Monroe and Jerry Garcia before embarking on a successful solo career. Tickets for Peter Rowan Trio are $17 in advance and $20 day of show. Other upcoming shows include the Sustainable Girdwood benefit concert featuring Melissa Mitchell and Loose Gravel on March 25 and all-female Led Zeppelin cover band Lez Zeppelin on April 2 and 3. Shred League

New format! Designed for the freerider, this is a Park and Pipe focused series made up of three sessions in March and April. Open to all ages, skiers and snowboarders. The sessions will be held on Saturday nights on March 6, March 20 and April 3 from 5:30 - 8 pm. Meet at the Tramway Café after the comps for results, great schwag and prizes. Sign up for one or all three sessions. The cost is $20 per session or $50 for all three. Call 754-2559 for more info.

Spring Break

New this spring: night-skiing has been extended on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights through March 27. Chair 7 is open for night-skiing giving easy access to the park and pipe. During Spring Break, the Alyeska Ski Bus will run daily from March 5 to 14 and continue weekend operations through the end of April.

St. Patrick's Day

Dress in ALL green (hat, jacket and pants) on March 17 and receive two for one lift tickets. This offer is valid on Adult, Student/Senior/College/Military and Child (8-13) day and half-day lift tickets. Call 754-2275 for more info. After skiing, join the party at the Sitzmark with green beer, food specials, live music and dancing to rousing Irish fiddle and folk tunes.

Mountain Metal Mayhem

The Second Annual Mountain Metal Mayhem is set for Thursday, March 18. The Jib Jam contest will start at 5:00 p.m. outside the Sitzmark with face-melting guitar solos during the comp. This event is open to all ages and the entry fee is $20. Helmets are required. Sign up from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on the Sitzmark deck. Awards will take place at 8:30 p.m. with an array heavy metal bands to follow inside the Sitzmark starting at 9:00 p.m. Cover is $8, 21 & over only. Call 754-2558 for more info. All proceeds from this event benefit the Girdwood Skate Park.

Military Appreciation Day

On Monday, March 22 Alyeska Resort salutes the members of our nation's Armed Forces and their families with Military Appreciation Day! Present a valid Military ID and receive a FREE lift ticket, gear rental and a special lunch plate at the Daylodge. Special military room rates are also available. Telepalooza & Alyeska World Comp

The Seventh Annual Jeff Nissman Memorial Telemark Festival is a celebration of the telemark community that takes place March 24 – 28. The festival includes clinics, fun races, demos, beacon park games, live music and lots of fun. Be sure to fine tune your tele turns and take home some great prizes.

New this year, the Alyeska World Comp will coincide with the Telepalooza festivities. The World Comp is a multi-discipline competition open to telemark, alpine and snowboard, and we are hoping to draw both international athletes and local rippers to this inaugural event. Wine Dinners at Seven Glaciers

Sunday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m. Seven Glaciers Restaurant will host a Wine Dinner featuring Silver Oak and Twomey Cellars. The evening includes a Chef's Tasting Menu to complement the featured wines and a special presentation by resident Silver Oak Cellars expert Nora Comee. The cost for the dinner is $125 per person.
