The Alaska State Troopers reported the following incidents. Any charges reported are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Death Investigation
MOOSE PASS—Nov. 4 at 11:09 a.m., Troopers responded to a business in Cooper Landing for a report of a male that was found deceased. An investigation showed that Alan Williams, 23 of Cooper Landing, had died sometime during the early morning hours. Williams' next of kin was notified of his death.
Operating a Vehicle With Expired Registration
HOPE—Nov. 5 at 8:05 p.m., Troopers arrested Ronald Owen Johnson, age 76 of Hope, for operating a vehicle with no driver's license. Johnson was contacted on a traffic stop near mile 16 of the Hope Highway for a seat beat violation. Johnson was cited for the seat belt violation, no proof of vehicle insurance, and operating a vehicle with expired registration. Johnson was released at the scene with a summons to appear in court.
Driving While License Revoked
GIRDWOOD—Nov. 12 at 2:33 p.m., Troopers arrested Oliver Guy Smith, age 46 of Seward, for Driving While License Revoked. Smith was contacted on a traffic stop near mile 73 of the Seward Hwy for passing on a double yellow centerline. Smith was operating a mid nineties sport utility vehicle. Smith was issued a traffic citation for driving left of center in a no pass zone. Smith was also issued a summons to appear in court for the DWLR. Smith and his vehicle were released to a licensed driver.
No Proof of Insurance, No Valid Driver's License
GIRDWOOD—Nov. 16 at 12:54 p.m., Troopers arrested Norman Dewitt Hollins, age 50 of Anchorage, for operating a motor vehicle without a driver's license. Hollins was contacted on a traffic stop near mile 101 of the Seward Highway for a seat belt violation. Hollins admitted to not having a driver's license and was unable to show proof of vehicle insurance. Hollins was operating a late 90's pickup truck with expired license plates. Hollins was issued traffic citation for the seat belt violation, no proof of insurance, and fail to register vehicle after transfer. Hollins was also issued a summons to appear in court for no valid driver's license. Hollins and his vehicle were released to a licensed driver.
