Ski Season Almost Here
Opening day is getting closer! Temperatures have been favorable for snowmaking and crews have been working around the clock to fill in the base area. Mother Nature has done her part with over 30 inches of natural snowfall. Opening day is scheduled for Nov. Wednesday, Nov. 25, snow conditions permitting. Ski Movie at the Daylodge
Nothing gets you in the mood for winter like a ski movie. Poorboyz Productions present “Everyday is a Saturday” on Friday, Nov. 20 at the Daylodge. “Saturday” highlights all aspects of the sport and strives to share that feeling any skier or rider knows: to work hard, play hard and share epic days with friends. Admission is $5 and beer & wine will be available. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Thanksgiving Buffet at the Pond Café
Don't feel like cooking this Thanksgiving? Join us for a holiday buffet with all the trimmings at the Pond Café. The menu will feature traditional favorites as well as holiday specialty dishes presented by Alyeska's talented chefs. Seatings at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Price for adults is $32 and $16 for children (3-12). Reservations welcome, call 754-2237 for more info.
Sitzmark Season Opening
The Sitzmark will open for the season on Nov. 20-21. The bar and restaurant will open at 5 p.m. and The 11:20's will play their eclectic mix of Americana pop rock both nights starting at 10 p.m. Seven day operations begin on Nov. 25. Upcoming bands include H3 and Hobo Jim. Advance tickets available by calling 754-2275.
Women's Midweek Mini Ski Clinic
This two-day women-only clinic is a great way to refresh your skills and have some fun with friends before the hectic holiday season begins. Clinic dates are December 9 & 16 and registration deadline is Dec. 2. You will ski with the same group every week and build skills as well as friendships. Four-week clinics will take place on Wednesdays in January, February and March. Registration forms are available online or call 754-2280 for more info.
Challenge Volunteers Needed
Challenge is recruiting volunteers for the upcoming ski season. Get more info at the Nov. 19 meeting from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the Challenge Alaska building. Join the team at one of the best adaptive ski schools in the nation. The training clinics will teach you great skills and you will share in the enthusiasm of helping others learn to ski and ride. Discover Program
Registration for the Discover Skiing & Snowboarding program is available online and through the Mountain Learning Center. This program is designed to introduce the sport to kids age 8-17. The 3 lesson blocks take place on Saturdays or Sundays. Call 754-2280 or check online for more information about this program and other clinics or camps available throughout the ski season for adults and kids.
