The Alaska State Troopers reported the following incidents. Any charges reported are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Eluding/DUI

GIRDWOOD—September 20 at 3:21 a.m., a Trooper attempted to stop a 1988 Saab near mi 2 of Alyeska Highway in Girdwood for speeding. The vehicle was pursued and failed to stop for the Trooper until the driver of the Saab turned down a dead end road. The driver, Patrick Michael Fanning age 35 of Girdwood, exited the vehicle and ran from the trooper on foot into the nearby wood line. Fanning was apprehended several moments later and arrested for DUI and Eluding II. Fanning was later remanded to the Anchorage Jail held on $2,500 cash.

Driving While License Suspended

MOOSE PASS—September 30 at around 5:30 p.m., a Trooper stopped a vehicle at 35 mile of the Seward Highway for a traffic violation. The driver, 21-year-old Tyler Cook of Anchorage, was subsequently charged with DWLS after a records check revealed his Washington operator's license is currently in suspended status. Cook was issued a misdemeanor citation to appear in the Seward Court for the above charge at a later date. The vehicle was released to a license driver.

Driving While License Suspended

GIRDWOOD—October 4 at approximately 9 p.m., the Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula Team, stopped a vehicle near mile 103 of the Seward Highway for a moving violation. The operator was identified as Peo Faamalino, age 47 of Anchorage. Faamalino was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended driver's license. Faamalino was issued a misdemeanor citation to appear in court at a later date and released on scene.

DUI, Refusal, Endangering the Welfare of a Child 1st x 3

POTTER MARSH—October 4 at approximately 11:20 p.m., the Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol, Kenai Peninsula Team, stopped a vehicle near milepost 117 of the Seward Highway after the vehicle was reported as a REDDI. The operator was identified as James A. Brown, age 49 of Anchorage. Brown was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence and was arrested for DUI. Brown had three small children in the vehicle while he was driving under the influence. Brown was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Breath Test Refusal and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the First Degree. Brown was remanded to the Anchorage Jail where he was held on $5,000 bail and a court approved third party.

Driving While License Revoked

GIRDWOOD—October 10 at around 7:20 p.m., Troopers received a report of a possible domestic disturbance in a vehicle approximately 10 miles south of Anchorage on the Seward Highway. Troopers contacted the suspect vehicle near mile 114 of the Seward Highway. While investigating the incident, Troopers contacted Adam Martushoff, 28 years old of Homer. A subsequent investigation revealed that Martushoff had been driving a vehicle while his license was revoked. Martushoff was issued a summons for DWLR.
