Fall is winding down quickly as termination dust gathers on the surrounding mountains.
But as the temperature gets colder, the local entertainment scene is starting to heat up.
Let's start first with some fun food specials going on at our local establishments.
At The Hotel Alyeska Aurora Bar and Grill they are now featuring a rotating weekly bar special through the month of November that can be paired with a $3 draft beer—cheap beer is good! Upcoming specials include Hot Dog Sliders (Coney Island, Chicago, and Tijuana)—you can never go wrong with a good hot dog. The dogs will be served Oct. 1-5, and following that they'll be serving up Halibut Tacos with Mango Salsa Oct 8-12.
Just so you know, Teppanyaki Sakura and Sushi bar at The Hotel Alyeska is closed until Dec. 18.
Monday Night Football fans are getting some tasty and cheap specials from a couple of bars.
Chair 5 is offering special Monday Night Football Platters: the “Captain's Platter” with halibut chunks, calamari strips and breaded shrimp, “The Gold Miners Platter” with BBQ ribs, hot wings, and onion rings, and the “Fajita Platter.” The kicker is that the platters go for only $10 each! I say order all three and take any leftovers home.
Glad to see the Brown Bear Saloon had a full bar during last Monday Night Football. Looks like the all you can eat tacos for $8 is working with the football crowd. That and the service of their great bartender, the very lovely—Sarah, who by the way will be leaving shortly for about a month touring the Lower 48. Until she returns, you can count on Matt to be your grumpy, non-attentive bartender. Just kidding around; we all love Matt.
