Draft Chugach State Park Trail Management Plan available for public review and comment

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation, has released the Public Review Draft of the Chugach State Park Trail Management Plan.

The plan sets forth trail management guidelines and makes recommendations for the development of trails within the park.

The Dept. of Natural Resources stated that the previous trail plan, adopted in 1986, was outdated and needed revision to recognize trails that have been built or improved in the last 23 years, to accommodate new trail development, and to implement the Division’s new trail policy.

There are series of meetings being held for the public to review the plan and offer input.

A meeting in Girdwood is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Girdwood Community Center Community Room.
