Blueberry Festival

Bring the whole family out for a celebration of everyone’s favorite super food on Saturday, Aug. 22. Live music and craft booths open from noon until 6 p.m. in the Pond courtyard. Music line up includes Sarahndipity, Bac’untry Bruthers, John & Julia and the 11:20’s. Kid’s activities include a fun run, face painting, hula hoops and “paint your own berry bag”.

North Face Trail Ribbon Cutting

Everyone is invited to the top of the Tram for the Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the new NF trail on Aug. 22. Alyeska is very proud of this new addition to our summer trail system and the hard work of our trail crews. We’d like to encourage the public to join us for a guided hike up the trail beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Tram base. If you hike up, the Tram ride down is free. Mayor Dan Sullivan will be on hand to say a few words and cut the ribbon at 2 p.m. Come on up and celebrate with us!

Retail Sidewalk Sale

A sidewalk sale will take place in the Tram hallway of The Hotel Alyeska during Blueberry Festival on Saturday, Aug. 22. Sale items include pottery, jewelry, summer clothing and last season’s skis and snowboards. Also coming up is a Labor Day/End of Season sale the first weekend of September.

Guided Tours of Blueberry Pancake Trail

The mountain bike race originally scheduled for Aug. 22 has been cancelled. Instead, during Blueberry Festival, Alyeska will be offering guided tours of the single track bike trail. Sign up at the Info Booth, tours begin at noon. Helmets required. Bike rentals are available at the Tram Ticket Office.

Fungus Fair

The 2nd Annual Fungus Fair is coming up on Sept. 4-7. The Forest Service will host a series of hikes and educational talks about mushrooms over Labor Day weekend. For complete schedule call 754-2348. Alyeska Resort will host the “Fungus Fair Formal” dinner on Friday, Sept. 4 and Saturday, Sept. 5 the Photonz and Melissa Mitchell will play a free acoustic concert in the Pond Courtyard. Call 754-2275 for advance ticket info for both events.

Half Pipe Construction

Alyeska Resort has purchased an 18-foot pipe monster and construction has begun on a 300-foot half pipe just below the Chair 7 midway station. This area will be fenced off and closed to the public until mid-October. Please observe all posted signs for your own safety as we will be cutting down trees and grading the area to create the super pipe out of dirt. The Chair 7 cat road will remain open for public access. Bear Cub Climb bike trail will have limited access. Alyeska is proud to have the only half pipe in Alaska, and looks forward to the grand opening this winter.
