Please don’t trash that GAP Survey

To the Editor:
With spam and junk mail increasingly cluttering our inboxes and mail boxes, it is understandable that we all succumb to the compulsion to delete and toss all that unwanted stuff. Please, however, consider making an exception.
For the past year, a group of Girdwood residents have been meeting monthly in order to orchestrate a public process for the review, and possible revision, of the 11-year-old Girdwood Area Plan. An important piece of that process is a survey that the Municipality will soon mail to Girdwood stakeholders, most of whom, naturally, live in Girdwood.
To the extent possible, the language and distribution methodology of the survey mirrors that of the survey that was conducted in 1993 as part of the original Girdwood Area Plan process. This has been done in order to make a comparison between the community’s thinking today and what it was then.
In addition to the original language, some questions have been added that address current issues.
The viability of our current GAP process is dependant on your input. Please resist that urge to discard the survey, find the time to give the questions some thought, and return the survey as instructed.
