Trooper Report

The following incidents were reported to Detachment E of the Alaska State Troopers.


Motor Vehicle Collision: On Oct. 15 at 3:00 p.m. Troopers were notified of a single vehicle collision near Mile Post 62 Seward Highway. An investigation confirmed Matthew Kollman, age 20, of Chugiak was traveling southbound on the Seward Highway when he lost control on ice, left the roadway and rolled several times before coming to rest. Kollman and his passengers, Matthew Obrien, age 20, Brad Carter, age 20, Nathan Holtzinger, age 19, and Chad Carson, age 18, all of Seward, were wearing seatbelts and were not injured. Kollman’s vehicle sustained extensive damage and was left at the scene to be recovered later by Kollman. Kollman was issued a summons for Failure to Give Immediate Notice of an Accident and a citation for Basic Speed. Alcohol is not considered to be a contributing factor.

Theft: On Oct. 13 at 4:40 p.m. Troopers received a report from the Alyeska Resort reporting someone stole approximately 25 bottles of red wines from the Seven Glaciers Restaurant located near the top of Alyeska Ski Resort sometime between Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. to Oct. 7 at 3:30 p.m. hours. An investigation revealed the suspects caused approximately $400 in damages to a locked wine cabinet and stole approximately $700 in red wines. The investigation is continuing. DUI Motor Vehicle Rollover: On Oct. 20, at approximately 3 a.m. Troopers responded to a single vehicle rollover at mile 4.5 Crow Creek Road in Girdwood. Investigation revealed Daron Richard Blick, age 30 of Girdwood was driving southbound on Crow Creek Rd when he lost control of his 1999 Toyota pickup. The pickup fishtailed several times before the vehicle rolled onto the roadway, then slid into a ditch causing approximately $2500.00 in damages. Girdwood Fire and EMS responded. Blick denied medical treatment. Blick was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI and issued a citation for not wearing a seat belt. Blick was transported to Anchorage Jail where he was remanded and held on $300 cash bail.

DUI/Driving While License Suspended:
On Oct. 21 at approximately 10:21 p.m. Troopers responded to mile 75 of the Seward Highway for the report of a white 2006 Chevrolet pickup that was reported as speeding, driving erratic, then stopping in the roadway. Investigation revealed Nina Jean Fleagle, age 40 of Fairbanks, was driving while under the influence of alcohol and that her Alaska Drivers license was in a suspended status. Fleagle was arrested for DUI and Driving While License Suspended. Fleagle was issued citations for Drinking While Driving, and Open Container of Alcohol inside a Motor Vehicle. Fleagle was transported to the Anchorage Jail and held on $2,500 cash bail, plus CATP.

Warrant Arrest: On Oct. 27 at approximately 11:50 a.m., Joseph S. Babington, 30, of Indian, was contacted by Girdwood Troopers for a warrant service in Indian. Babington was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear original charge Misconduct Involving Control Substance in the 6th degree. Babington was remanded at the Anchorage Jail with a $500 bail.
