Trooper Report

The following incidents were reported to Detachment E of the Alaska State Troopers.

DUI: On Sept. 17 at 2 a.m. a Trooper stopped a 2005 Toyota Corolla for speeding near mile 102 Seward Highway, Girdwood. Investigation revealed the driver, Patrick Joseph Notar, age 37 of Girdwood was driving impaired while under the influence of alcohol. Notar was arrested for Driving under the Influence (DUI) and was issued a citation for exceeding the posted speed limit in a traffic safety corridor. Notar was transported to Girdwood Post for a bail hearing and was later released on his own recognizance.

Over Limit Rock Fish: On Sept. 14 Neil Shuckerow , 53, of Anchorage, was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Girdwood Post for going 12 fish over his daily bag limit of non-pelagic rock fish. Shuckerow was also cited for possession of an undersized lingcod. Bail is set at $350.00 for the over limit of rockfish and $160.00 for the undersized lingcod at Anchorage District Court.

Rescue: On Sept. 22 at 4:55 p.m. the Coast Guard relayed to Troopers that there were two parties that hiked up a mountain near the Portage Glacier and were not able to get back down from their location. They were identified as Kari Hebert, 35 years of age from Anchorage and Curtis Anderson, 36 years of age from Anchorage. They were able to maintain cell phone contact with Troopers at the base of the mountain and were in good condition. The Rescue Coordination Center in Anchorage responded with a helicopter to remove the two individuals from the mountain and landed at a pullout near Mile 2.5 Portage Glacier Road where there vehicle was located. Girdwood EMS was on scene to stand by; however the two individuals did not require medical attention.

Domestic Disturbance: On Sept 19, a Trooper responded to a 911 call from a 27 year old female reporting a domestic disturbance at a residence near Girdwood Post. An investigation revealed the female had been injured and investigation is continuing. The female denied medical treatment.

DUI: On Sept. 21 at 8:43 p.m. a Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 Dodge pickup for erratic driving near mile 2 Alyeska Highway in Girdwood. Investigation revealed Kurt William Kramer, age 31 of Girdwood was driving under the influence of alcohol, possessed more than one ounce of marijuana packaged and intended for distribution, and had in his possession two firearms. Kramer was arrested for Misconduct involving a Controlled Substance IV (Felony level), Driving under the Influence, and Misconduct Involving a Weapon IV. Kramer was transported to Anchorage Jail and held on $2500.00 Cash bail. Kramer’s pickup was seized by the State Troopers.

Warrant Arrest: On Sept. 22 at approximately 12:00 p.m. a Trooper stopped a vehicle near mile 100 of the Seward Highway for speeding 68 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. This area is within the Highway Safety Corridor. The driver was identified as Carol R. Hoelscher, age 42 of Anchorage. Investigation revealed that Hoelscher had a warrant for her arrest for failure to appear for a disposition hearing with the original charge being child neglect. Hoelscher was arrested and remanded to the Anchorage Jail. Bail was set at $1000 cash/corporate and a court approved third party.
