Annual Sports Swap to be held October 27

Special to the Turnagain Times

It’s time again for the annual Sports Swap. The location has changed though. This year FVCS and Girdwood School, with support from World Cup Sports, will be hosting the event at the Girdwood School gym. Hours will be from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27.
The event, a mainstay in Girdwood for at least the past 12 years, signals a chance to reconnect with friends and neighbors in anticipation of a great ski season ahead. Not to mention an opportunity to freshen up your equipment and ski duds.
There will be less space this year, so be relatively selective about what you bring. In other words, bring what you think others will want to buy! Sellers can drop off your “still got some life left” sports equipment and clothing from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This year there won’t be a coat check area, so please leave backpacks and heavy coats at home or in your vehicle.
The entrance will be through the front door of the school and down the left side hallway by the kitchen. Shop in the gym and exit out the double doors where several cash registers will be located. You can expect great deals on new and used equipment for many different sports. Pickup will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., and whatever is not claimed will be donated to a non-profit organization.
Volunteers are still needed, so if you are interested in making this year’s swap a smashing success, call Rorie at 783-2491.
