The following incidents were reported to Detachment E of the Alaska State Troopers.
Motor Vehicle Collision: On Jan. 16 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision at Mile 111 of the Seward Highway. An investigation determined that a 2006 Chevrolet car, driven by Leonard C. Durf, age 49 of Girdwood, was traveling southbound when he lost control on an icy corner and slid off the road. The vehicle rolled one time before resting up against a large rock. Durf was transported by paramedics to an Anchorage area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Durf reported wearing his seatbelt. The vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 in damages.
Motor Vehicle Collision: On Jan. 16 at 6:47 p.m. Troopers were notified of a motor vehicle collision near Milepost 58 on the Seward Highway. An investigation confirmed Edward Holsten, age 60, of Cooper Landing was traveling southbound on the Seward Highway when he lost control of his 2000 Mazda, left the roadway, and overturned. Holsten and his passenger, Sandra Holsten, age 61, of Cooper Landing were wearing seatbelts and were not injured. Holsten’s vehicle sustained extensive damage and was recovered by Hamilton’s Towing. No citations were issued and alcohol is not considered to be a contributing factor.
Warrant Arrest: On Jan. 17 at 8:15 p.m. Troopers contacted Lance C. Baker, age 25 of Girdwood, at the tram ticket office on the grounds of Alyeska Resort. Investigation revealed Baker had an outstanding $1,000 arrest warrant for DUI. Baker was arrested and transported to the Anchorage Jail where he was remanded into custody.
Theft: On Jan. 17 at 5:45 p.m. Troopers received a report of theft from the Alyeska Resort. Investigation revealed someone stole a large amount of cash from a safe at the Alyeska Resort Day Lodge. The investigation is continuing.
Marijuana Possession: On Jan. 19 at 4:30 p.m., a Trooper stopped a 2002 Subaru Impreza driven by Gregory David Hugunin, age 23 of Girdwood, at mile 111 Seward Highway for an equipment violation. Investigation revealed Hugunin possessed marijuana inside his vehicle. The marijuana was seized as evidence and Hugunin was issued a summons for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance VI and a citation for Use of Colored Lights Not Authorized. Both the criminal offence and traffic violation occurred within the Traffic Safety Corridor.
False Statement: On Jan. 22, Jason Capron, 26, of Girdwood, was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Girdwood Post for making a false statement on his 2006 resident sport fishing license. Bail is set at $310 in Anchorage District Court.
Warrant Arrest: On Jan. 24 at 11 p.m. a Trooper contacted Daniel Cardenas, age 21 of Girdwood, at the Chair 5 Bar in Girdwood. An investigation revealed Cardenas had an outstanding arrest warrant for $250 (original charge Failure to Appear for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance VI). Cardenas was arrested on scene and found to have in his possession one gram of cocaine. Cardenas was also charged for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV and was transported to Anchorage Jail where he was held on an additional $2,000 bail.
Assault/Criminal Mischief: On Jan. 31 at 6:40 p.m. a trooper responded to a residence in the Glacier Creek Mobile Park in Girdwood for a disturbance. Following an investigation Arthur J. Warren, age 43 of Girdwood, was arrested for domestic violence Assault IV (X2) and Criminal Mischief V. He was transported to Anchorage Jail and held without bail
